Gemini 3.5 Pro release date

Gemini 3.5 Pro has not shipped. Google announced it, missed its own June target, and has not given a new date. Almost everything else you will read about it — the launch date, the context window, the reasoning features — comes from reporting and leaks rather than from Google. This page keeps those two piles separate.

Update — July 22, 2026

Google shipped Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber today — but not 3.5 Pro. The widely-reported July 17 launch date has now passed without it. In the same post Google says 3.5 Pro is still testing with partners and will go broad “as soon as it's ready,” and that pre-training on Gemini 4 has begun. What Google has confirmed

  • It exists and is in partner testing — restated on July 22, 2026.

    Google's earlier statement: “We're currently testing 3.5 Pro, an upgraded Flash model, and other models with partners.” In its July 22 launch post Google repeats that 3.5 Pro is testing with partners and will be broadly available “as soon as it's ready” — still no date.

  • Pre-training on Gemini 4 has started.

    Stated by Google in the July 22 post. No timeline, no specs, and no indication of how it affects the 3.5 Pro schedule — but it is now an official fact rather than a leak.

  • It was announced at I/O in May 2026, with Pro promised for June.

    Google announced Gemini 3.5 Flash at I/O and said the Pro version would follow in June.

  • Gemini 3.1 Pro shipped in February 2026.

    That is the current shipping Pro model — the one 3.5 Pro is meant to succeed.

  • The upgraded Flash model shipped on July 22, 2026.

    The “upgraded Flash model” Google referred to is now out: Gemini 3.6 Flash, at $1.50 per 1M input tokens and $7.50 per 1M output, alongside 3.5 Flash-Lite and a limited-access Cyber model. That part of the statement has been delivered — the Pro part has not.

What has been reported, but not by Google

Bloomberg reports that Google is taking extra time to improve the model's capabilities, particularly in coding, and that the company refreshed its training data in late June with disappointing results. This is the closest thing to an explanation for the slip — but note that Google has never publicly acknowledged missing the June deadline at all. The delay is journalism, not an announcement.

What is repeated everywhere but unconfirmed

  • A July 17, 2026 launch date — now expired, and it did not happen

    Widely reported across outlets; Google never confirmed it. As of July 22 the date has passed with no Pro release, and Google's own launch post that day shipped three Flash models while restating that 3.5 Pro is still in partner testing. This is the second date to slip.

  • A 2M token context window

    Reported as double the 1M cap on the previous Pro generation. Third-party reporting only — no Google documentation states this.

  • A “Deep Think” reasoning layer and autonomous workflow features

    Attributed to leaks. No model card, no pricing page, and no official benchmark has been published.

If you are planning around Gemini 3.5 Pro, treat every number in this section as unusable for capacity or budget decisions until Google publishes a model card. A date that has already slipped once, with no replacement date offered, is not a schedule.
