React Material Design Components

Material design components written with React.js and React Style.

Thanks to the Polymer team for providing a base set of elements that I could re-implement.

Contributions are very welcome!

Definitely not production ready for now!

Motivation

A good starting point for web apps styled with material design, but also to experiment with React Style and see what works and what doesn't.

Current issues

Need to implement a base set of components
Properly implement the "theming" of the components
Create a set of superb animations
Should work in IE8 whereby the functionality should not be broken. IE in general needs some extra work, but so far the results have been promising. Also, for IE8 we need to generate PNG's from the SVG's.
Properly handle mobile interfaces with proper touch support
Write browser tests (esp. visual ones to check for regressions)
De-fugly-fy code
Use Google Closure Compiler Advanced Mode for bragging rights

Architecture ideas and contributing

Following up from conversations on twitter, I'm really interested in contributing to react-material and getting it up to parity with angular material. This is the one thing I miss from Angular.

I'd love to see a really good theming story like angular-material has.
- Browsing through the code I saw you have some kind of theming going, but I need to figure out how it integrates with components.
- I liked some of the discussion here on implementing theming.
Angular material's conveniences for layout are nice. Maybe we could make components like <row> or <container> for this? I'm not positive this would be better than just letting people define the flexbox layouts themselves. It could be a nice start for new people to the framework to be able to get up and running with a standard app layout easily, though.
I noticed IE8 support is one of your goals, but I wonder if that may cause too many difficulties to making nice implementations of the components. I definitely don't have a strong a opinion on this, but it seems like a lot of other libraries aren't bothering with IE8 anymore?
I like how angular-material puts tests alongside its directives. Did you have any thoughts on what to use for testing?
I really like how react-material is putting styles in the js. I'm wondering if something like Radium might be a better option than react-style.
- Radium has a nice way of handling computed styles, states, and media queries with support coming for keyframe animations.
- Maybe react-style has these coming?
Thanks for this cool library! I don't have much experience designing libraries, but I want to learn and help make a great material design lib for React! Where can I start contributing?
