Logseq - What is it?

Logseq is a local-first, non-linear, outliner notebook for organizing and sharing your personal knowledge base.

Use it to organize your todo list, to write your journals, or to record your unique life.

The server will never store or analyze your private notes. Your data are plain text files and we currently support both Markdown and Emacs Org mode (more to be added soon).

In the unlikely event that the website is down or cannot be maintained, your data is, and will always be yours.

Logseq is hugely inspired by Roam Research, Org Mode, Tiddlywiki and Workflowy, hats off to all of them!

How do I use it?

  1. Visit https://logseq.com/

  2. Click the button Login with Github. We are using an excellent web git client called Isomorphic-git.org. More sync options(e.g. Gitlab, Dropbox, Google Drive, WebDAV, etc.) will be added soon.

  3. Set your Github personal access token, the token will be encrypted and stored in the browser local storage, our server will never store it. If you are unfamiliar with either Git or the personal access token, no worries, please just follow the steps here: https://logseq.com/blog/faq#How_to_create_a_Github_personal_access_token-3f-

  4. Start writing and have fun!

Input Lag 输入卡顿

Can't open local folder on Android

Describe the bug When I grant storage permissions and try to add an empty folder, nothing happens.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install latest nightly version of Logseq on Android
  2. Click on 'Grant permission' and add an empty folder as a new graph

Expected behavior Adding an empty folder generates a new graph.

PDF block references were lost

What happened?

Hello

I am struggling with Logseq. I have downloaded it yesterday and been working on taking notes to a text from uni just today on Logseq. The notes were stored in a file on my desktop. Unfortunately, after working for a couple of hours in Logseq an error occurred and I had to quit the app - when I opened it again, all my notes where gone and it looked just like the moment I have installed it new. My pages (mc files) are still on the desktop, but I cannot open them in Logseq, or with any other tool. Can you help me? Thank you so much.

Reproduce the Bug

  1. create a new page
  2. highlight something in a pdf document which is also used as a reference in the notes
  3. then the error occures
  4. quit the app and open it again
  5. everything is gone...

Expected Behavior

I would be very glad to have an instruction on how to restore my work and on how I connect the stored mc files with my logseq.

[Resolved] High CPU load in Linux (Logseq 0.5.2 ~ 0.5.4)

Note2: The issue will be resolved in the next release (0.5.5), or could try out the nightly release for now. Note: Title edited by @cnrpman as it's a general issue for many Linux distros.

I have high CPU load in Logseq 0.5.2 in Fedora 35 (disable all extensions) 1 2

OneDrive: Deleting my notes

Hi, I have a problem. My notes are disappearing in Logseq and I don't know what it is. Could someone also give me some advice? Hopefully it's not caused by the plugins I have downloaded. Thank you MK. I am attaching 2 photos here, the first where I have my notes in normal state and the second where my it is getting angry and the notes have been deleted.

Random page disappearing on Android // 随机出现pages内容丢失

What happened?

不定时发现某些pages内容丢失，但是在"logseq\bak\pages\pages名称" 目录下，有一个备份文件，是丢失前的文件内容。

出现过多次，涉及多个pages文件，不固定。

不知道"logseq\bak\pages\pages名称" 目录是什么？

PC和手机通过Syncthing 1.20.2同步数据。

Greenish notification bar and navigation bar on Android

What Happened?

This is a very long-lived issue on Android.

When I set background color, theme or accent color (introduced in v.0.10.0), notification bar and navigation bar still remain greenish.

It is not a functional issue, but aesthetic perspective deserves to be taken care of. It feels like the app is not immersed in mobile environment and is somewhat isolated.

If it is something that never can be fixed, then color for those bars need to be selected with more care so that it would be more 'universal' or 'harmonized' with various colors (some other gray scale color).

Personally, this is the biggest reason for me not to use any theme or accent color also on desktop app (yes I am syncing between desktop and mobile). And due to not being able to use theme, Logseq has lower priority than other note taking apps.

Reproduce the Bug

On Android

  1. Open custom.css
  2. Set background-color or import any theme
  3. See color of notification bar and navigation bar
  1. Open sertings
  2. Switch to other accent colors
  3. See color of notification bar and navigation bar

Expected Behavior

Colors of notification bar and navigation bar are aligned with background color of app

Search function does not navigate to block of interest if that block is collapsed

What Happened?

As of 0.10.0, when I do a search for a term and click the result I would like to see, Logseq navigates to the page it is on, but does not navigate to the block itself unless the block is already exposed (not within a collapsed block).

Consequently, I either have to expand all blocks on a page first or bring up the search results in the right pane to find what I'm looking for.

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Do a search for a term found in a known collapsed block.
  2. Note that the search brings you to the page of interest, but not the block of interest.
  3. Expand the parent blocks to which the block of interest is a child so that the block of interest is exposed.
  4. Redo the search.
  5. Note that the search brings you to the block of interest.

Expected Behavior

The search should bring me to the previewed content, which is the block of interest in the context of the page it is on. If it is collapsed before I search, it should expand to the degree necessary for the block of interest to be exposed (i.e., do not need to expand the block of interest or children themselves).

Release 0.10.0 does not render node edges in Graph View

What Happened?

Updated to v0.10.0 from v0.9.20, Went to Graph View (In dark mode), Node edges are not rendered. When selecting and dragging the node around, node edges are rendered partially (only from selected node to linked nodes)

In light mode everything seems to work as expected

Same thing happens in the Right Panel -> Page Graph

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Install v0.10.0
  2. Add some pages, and some links between them
  3. Click on ... in the top right corner -> settings -> general -> theme modes -> dark
  4. Click on ≡ in the top left corner to open side panel -> Graph View
  5. See edges not rendered
  6. Grab some node and drag it around
  7. See edges partially rendered (glitchy as well)
  8. Click on ... in the top right corner -> settings -> general -> theme modes -> light
  9. See edges between the nodes in the Graph View rendered as expected

Expected Behavior

Render edges between linked nodes in dark mode in Graph View

What Happened?

Search modal window left open after selecting some search result. BUT only after Logseq app loses focus in special ways:

  1. When some screenshotter tool's overlay grabs the focus
  2. When using ⌥+click on another window on MacOS

Note, this doesn't happen if:

  1. Logseq window hides or collapses to macos doc
  2. User switch Logseq window to another app's window

But this bug is still annoying

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Open Search: ⌘K
  2. ⌥+click on another app's window to switch focus from Logseq app
  3. Return to Logseq app
  4. Select any result on Search modal

Expected Behavior

Search modal hides with result selection

What Happened?

  1. There is no way to see command's shortcut (exept of highlight the command)
  2. There is lazy strange animation for command shortcut when it is highlighted

Reproduce the Bug

  1. Just search for a commands with shortcuts with a new search (⌘K or ⌘⇧P)
  2. Move highlight with arrows to see lazy appearing of shortcuts

Expected Behavior

  1. No animation for shortcuts — it is just visible
  2. All shortcuts are visible despite of highlight
