This gh extension let's you install latest releases from Github repos.
gh install <user>/<repo>
gh extension install redraw/gh-install
The binary path is retrieved from $GH_BINPATH and defaults to $HOME/.local/bin.
Hi. This is the first gh extension I have used. I thought I would add it to my dotfiles repository so that I would automatically have it on all hosts. But I got the warning saying that it was a git repository itself.
Is there a way to add it to a synced git repository while still being able to update it using gh extension upgrade or do I have to remember to install extensions manually on each host?
Just came across gh-install on HN. While reading through the script I saw a few opportunities to improve it. Hope this helps :)

gh-install could check for non-standard dependencies using commandgh-install users probably care less about its internal in error messages than gh-install developers, hence a more generic error message could be more appropriate case $arg in
