Compared to Disqus

Cusdis is not designed to be a complete alternative to Disqus. It's aim is to implement a minimalist and embeddable comment system for small websites (such as your static blog).

Given below are the pros and cons of Cusdis:

Pros

  • Cusdis is open-source and self-hostable. Hence, you own your data.
  • The SDK is lightweight(~5kb gzipped).
  • Cusdis doesn't require your user to sign in to make a comment.
  • Cusdis doesn't use cookies at all.

Cons

  • Cusdis is on the early stages of its development.
  • There is no spam filter, hence, you will have to manually moderate your comment section and comments won't be displayed until you approve them.
  • Disqus is a company, we aren't.

"powered by Cusdis" is too obvious

No offense, and I'm happy to advertise Cusdis, I just want to say that "powered by Cusdis" is too obvious, could it be displayed in a less obvious way, for example, in a lighter color to the far right of the "Comment" button?

The approve_link from webhook is incorrect while using self-hosting

I am trying self-host a cusdis app on vercel with custom domains cusdis.self.host

  1. after I set up a custom webhook link with TGBOT
  2. and testing post new comment
  3. the approve_link from webhook message is https://cusdis.com/open/approve?token=xxx

which is, cusdis.com at approve_link is not matching my custom domains cusdis.self.host and hence cause the invalid token error

Handle renderCusdis in SPA

Sign in with GitHub is not working as expected

Hello,

I made the decision to test Cusdis. So I followed the "Sign in with GitHub" instructions. It requested permission to use the Cusdis app, which I granted. It should then prompt me to start a new project before displaying the dashboard. Instead, it says, "To confirm your identity, sign in with the same account you used originally."

Can you please guide me on how to fix it?

Currently, there is no vertical spacing between paragraphs, which makes longer comments hard to read.

Seems not working with Pjax

Hi, I am using Hexo with NexT theme and trying to setup Cusdis. The core codes for injecting Cusdis is:

This works fine when I did not turn on Pjax.

After turning on Pjax, the script is reloaded and executed every time page switches, due to event listener on 'page:loaded'.

There's a mistake when page switches: Uncaught SyntaxError: Identifier 'e' has already been declared (at cusdis.es.js:1:1).

At the beginning of cusdis.es.js, there comes let e;. I guess the problem originates from the scope of var e. I am not a front-end guy and am looking for help. Thanks!

Comments are not tied to the post but they appear on every post.

I have just installed this in ghost and I see the comments are showing up on every post and not limited to a certain post. Is this coded like this or it's a bug?
