Status

If your instance is crashing frequently please make sure you update to the latest version (from Github or F-Droid, not the Play store) and reset the app data before creating an issue. We made a lot of changes that broke compatibility in the older versions.

Currently there are a lot of issues and we are all working on this app in our spare time so please be patient if your issue is not immediately resolved. We are going to review the structure of the launcher since I wrote this app a long time ago so we might break functionality at times. Thanks for your support.

Contributions

The project is always open for contributions and accepts pull requests. You may use Android Studios auto reformat feature before sending a PR.

Translations can be contributed on GitHub. You can use Stringlate () to translate the project directly on your Android phone. It allows you to export as E-Mail attachement and to post on GitHub.

Screens added to left of homescreen vanish after launcher restart

Repro:

Have a setup where the current homescreen is the left-most screen (screen 1 = homescreen)
Drag one or more shortcuts/icons to the left to create a new screen (screen 1, screen 2 = homescreen)
Restart OpenLauncher
Result: The left-most screen (screen 1) is gone, and usually the icons that used to be there show up on the homescreen (screen 2). Depending on the arragement of the icons, they can overlap (graphical glitch) with existing icons.

Setting the newly created left-most screen as the new homescreen does not make a difference. Neither does locking the setup.

Extract refactoring

So far this seems to work, I think I did not forget anything.

StaticSetup singleton is awful, I know, but it was the fastest solution without changing too much
small bugfix - search view close behaviour changed => close it if no text is in search view, clear text only otherwise

TODO because of refactoring:

resource strings are just copied now, will be merged, but still, should be cleaned...

Fallback on a browser if no search app is installed

This is my implementation of a fallback online search using the ACTION_VIEW intent in case no search app is installed. The URI used for this search can be configured in the settings, by default Google is used.

Request to improve the usability for dumbphone

Description

I use this launcher with doro 7030 (no touch) and I love it. Not having touch (in apps where it's required I use an app that simulates a mouse) I use the arrow keys to move and when I'm over an element, it colors to indicate that I'm there. The problem is in the home dock. When I'm on top of an item, the color difference is minimal, and I can't quite tell (especially when I'm outdoors) where I am. I tried changing the background color of the dock but the situation improves little. It would be nice to get an update to change the color that indicates where you are or to just darken it.

Description

OpenLauncher crashes when trying to go into split screen and reports that my apps don't suppor t split screen. However, these apps do split screen just fine with other launchers such as Rootless Pixel Launcher.

Crash after changing icon pack

It is sufficient to change icon pack to another one and most of the time (but not 100% of the time) it crashes when getting back to the home screen. After extra restart it works fine indefinitely.

[Bug] Notification badges do not appear when an app is in a folder

Description

An app will not show notification badges if they are placed within a folder. (Related to this, folders do not show that notifications for apps exist within them).

Aside

If the app with existing notifications is moved from the folder to the desktop, it will not show the pending notifications as a badge until a new notification arrives.

[Feature Request] Add the option of an app shadow and/or outline to app icons

Description

I'm not sure if this is where feature requests are supposed to be put, but A nice feature would be to be able to add a shadow around apps in the app drawer, the dock, and the desktop. Sometimes, depending on the color of the background, the apps edges can blend perfectly with the background, so you don't have any visual indicator of the app's borders. It'd be good to add small shadow around the apps, or perhaps the option of just a border. All of this would, of course, be adjustable in the settings.
